Retirement Questions Questions

I'm going to be 33 in a few days and I'm trying to get my future a little more secure. I went to the bank the other day and talked to the fiancial guy and he told me about a mutual fund called Kaufmann fund. I'm extremely stupid when it comes to stocks, bonds, funds, and everything inbetween so I didn't understand anything he was telling me. I guess my question is this. Is there a book for dummies someone can recommend I should read to learn terms and the best plan of attack for someone in my fiancial sitution and age and learn how to make the best of my retirement choices and money? Or should I speak with someone else that can help me and dumb it down but not take advantage of me as well?

Ok here is a toughy I hope some financial guru's can help me out. I am 22 years old and am looking at my retirement. I want to have atleast 2 million to retire on at age 60. I would like to start investing in a Roth IRA asap. I also plan on doing a 401 K plan once I get a real job after graduating. What I'd like to know is what will I have to invest in the Roth IRA up til age 60 and what will I need to invest in my 401K plan to have atleast 2 mill by age 60. Lets assume I am getting 8 percent return a year. Any responses welcome.

I'm about 8 yrs away from retirement---I need to know who I go to for an advisory about what i have for loans n what i have for savings in what I need to do---

I have done the route of the big guys for investing but they always try and sell me goods I have no interest in, like plans for "future nursing home needs." I just want someone who can look at what I have, the years til my retirement and help me figure my best options.

Tomorrow my employer is having a seminar for those employees interested in taking the "early" retirement incentive now being offered. All employees interested have to retire by the end of September, which doesn't leave much planning time. This seminar is a one-chance opportunity to get info on retirement, so I want some feedback on what would be some good questions to ask.

I currently work for the Union Pacific railroad, I don’t completely understand the 2-tiered railroad retirement. Can anyone help better explain it to me. The only people I can talk to work under the old Southern Pacific agreement and fall under TPA. My question is this: If I work for 30 years and retire exactly at 60 years of age and never make more than 50k a year what should my retirement look like per month or yearly. I know it goes off my 3 best years but that doesn’t really help my much. If you know what is the average retirement for a conductor (I am a conductor) Thank you very much for your time and answers.

I have to interview one of the Depute Heads of my school for the newspaper, and i cant really think of any questions to ask him, i would be grateful for any assistance. He is retiring soon, and i need something to write about his retirement.

I need some help answering questions of the Texas Teacher Retirement System. My boyfriend's mom works for the school district and is considering retiring next year or by the end of this school year. She came to me about TRS and how it works. I tried to look online and see what I could help her with but it's all lingo I can't figure. Plus I'm not really sure what she's asking or if it's possible. She did mention that she thinks she still has to work five more years for school district but she's already 62. And social security is a whole another ball game she and I are trying to figure out. How does teacher retirement work? (googling this question didn't help). Is there any way she can pull out some of her retirement just for the summer since there is no work during summer? (she is part of the cafeteria staff). Can she pul out social security at same time? *(she also doesnt have very many um ? credits i guess its called for social security because she didn't work much. she also asked me if i could find out if Teacher's Retirement could give out some kind of loans for her? I guess monetary resources she can use meanwhile she is not working. *(her granddaugther and 2 sons lives with her. One son can't work and the other is a College student with merely a work study job that pays only min. wage with only 15-20 hrs a month.) Any advice or helpful information would be useful. Thanks so much , any support is greatly appreciated.
